Monero Tracker & View

Effective 5 October 2026 · Version 1.0

This policy describes the iPhone, iPad, and Mac app named Monero Tracker & View, published by the independent developer registered with Apple as Developer Team 7J597C37UA. The bundle identifiers are app.monero.tracker and app.monero.tracker.mac. This website only describes the app. It does not collect view keys, addresses, or messages.

1. Who operates the app

The developer of Monero Tracker & View operates no server for this app, runs no account system, and receives no analytics from the app. The developer does not receive your address, your view key, your balances, or your scan history. Contact the developer through the App Store product page for Monero Tracker & View.

2. Data not collected by the developer

The App Store privacy label for this app is Data Not Collected. The app contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising identifier, and no tracking domain. There is no login and no developer account to create.

3. Data stored on your device

The app stores, only on the device where you install it:

  • each tracked Monero address and its public spend key;
  • the private view key for that address, in the Apple Keychain, with accessibility “when unlocked, this device only”, so it is not included in backups that migrate to another device and is not available while the device is locked;
  • outputs and incoming transactions observed by a scan, in a local file under Application Support;
  • your settings, including the selected fiat currency, the selected node, scan progress, and, if you set one, the fact that an app passcode exists. The passcode itself is stored in the Keychain, not in the settings file.

The private view key is not written into the Application Support file. iCloud is not used. Deleting a tracked wallet inside the app deletes that wallet’s data and its Keychain entry immediately. Uninstalling the app removes the on-device data. A 4-digit app passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode gates the app after you set a passcode. The app locks at launch and after two minutes in the background.

4. Data that leaves the device, and who receives it

Network calls happen only in these cases.

Private node mode. The app sends ordinary Monero daemon queries (get_info, get_block, get_transactions, and the related height and hash lookups required to scan) to the daemon you configure. Your private view key stays on the device. Bundled remote presets use HTTPS. You may point the app at a daemon on your own machine or local network over plain HTTP, including 127.0.0.1 port 18081. Remote cleartext connections are blocked. Many public daemons refuse get_transactions. That restriction is part of the daemon, and a full private scan requires your own unrestricted daemon.

Explorer-assisted mode. This mode is optional and is labeled at import and in the app’s Privacy screen. Block and output queries go to xmrchain.net. Output-matching requests include your Monero address and your private view key, because that is what lets xmrchain.net find outputs for you. If you do not want the view key sent to xmrchain.net, use private node mode instead.

Price quotes. The app requests a public price from CoinGecko for the currency you select: USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, or CHF. Those requests contain the currency code only. They do not contain your address, view key, or balances.

The developer does not sit in the middle of these requests. xmrchain.net, CoinGecko, and any daemon you select are independent services with their own practices. A node or explorer you choose can see the queries you send it, including, in explorer-assisted mode, the address and view key.

5. Camera

On iPhone and iPad the camera is used only when you choose to scan a QR code that contains a Monero address or a view key. The image is read on the device for that import. It is not uploaded by the app.

6. Children

The app is a finance utility for people who already control a Monero view key. It is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Retention and deletion

The developer retains nothing, because the developer receives nothing from the app. On the device, data remains until you delete the tracked wallet, delete all data in Settings, or uninstall the app. Keychain items are removed when you delete the wallet or delete all data.

8. Security

View keys and the optional app passcode use the Apple Keychain with this-device-only, unlocked-only protection. The app cannot spend Monero: it has no spend-key field and no transaction-construction code. No method of storage is perfect. Protect the device passcode, and import only keys you are willing to have on that device.

9. International use

Chain queries and price quotes travel from your device to the services named above. Those services may process requests outside your country. The developer does not operate that processing.

10. Changes

This policy matches version 1.0 of the app, effective 5 October 2026. A later version of the app will carry its own policy text inside the app if the practice changes. The website will be updated to match that version.
